Nice Eco Stadium

Nice, 2011

In time for the European soccer championship 2016 in France a new stadium is built in Nice, designed by Parisian architects Wilmotte. Roof and outer facade are defined by a ring of cantilevering trusses whose lower girders are crossed timber beams while the diagonals and upper girders are made from steel.

designtoproduction was commissioned by the contractor Fargeot Lamellé Collé to conduct a study and optimize the shape of the stadium roof. By using the symmetry the number of individual truss geometries could be reduced from 30 to 3
