The design for this large sunroof in southern Europe is based on single plane, triangulated in a regular grid. The structure is folded by shifting the nodes along the z-coordinates, making it self-supporting and dispensing with the need for any additional structural elements.

designtoproduction undertook a feasibility study by connecting a structural analysis software to a genetic algorithm. This optimisation method allowed the «evolution» of possible solutions with outstanding structural qualities.
